At a news conference on December 16, 2013, Sheriff Bill Holt stated “We’ve developed some new information in the past several weeks that brings us to the conclusion that there was foul play involve, and we are pursuing that as we speak in a renewed effort between the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.” Jennifer’s mother, Kathy Nale, also announced at that press conference that family members, close friends, Crime Stoppers and the TBI had come together to offer a $17,000 reward as well. Jennifer and Adrianna’s family have never stopped searching for answers, searching for their babies. We will continue to stand behind them and support all efforts to locate them and hold those who stole their lives accountable.
Family, I want to ask each of you to light a candle tonight for Jennifer and Adrianna. Something in me is saying that right now, they need a light to follow home more than ever, and we can be that light.
Let’s Light Jennifer and Adrianna Wix’s Way Home
Date of Birth: January 14, 2002
Height: 2’0” Weight: 25 lbs
Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue
Missing: March 25, 2004 From: Cross Plains, TN
Distinguishing Features: She has a birthmark on her right thigh.
In August of 2003, Jennifer Wix and her two year old daughter, Adrianna, moved to Cross Plains, Tennessee to live on her boyfriend’s family’s 80 acre farm. William Benton’s entire family lives on the compound and have been said to be rather reclusive. Jennifer thought she had found her prince, but that fairy tale quickly ended. As the relationship began to fall apart, Jennifer’s mother moved closer to the area to support her daughter and granddaughter. The final straw seems to have come when Jennifer told her mother that Benton had made some threatening remarks to her.
Adrianna and her mother, Jennifer Wix, were last seen together between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. on March 25, 2004. Jennifer’s live in boyfriend, William Benton, initially stated Jennifer and Adrianna left home with an unknown individual.
He later altered his story and said that he and Jennifer had an argument and he dropped her and Adrianna off at an Exxon gas station near Exit 112 off Interstate 65 in Cross Plains, Tennessee. Benton claims he pulled across the street to wait and be sure that Jennifer and Adrianna were meeting someone. After five to ten minutes, Adrianna and Jennifer got into a white four door early 1990’s model mid size car. Benton claims he did not see the driver, nor the direction in which the car went. As time passed he stated the car was a Mustang, then a Camaro, and finally a Grand Prix.
Benton stated Jennifer went to their home, without Adrianna, the next afternoon. She was driving the car she’d gotten into the previous day. She asked for her income tax return but her boyfriend’s parents were not home to give her the money so she left and said she would come back for it. She never did. Jennifer and Adrianna have never been heard from again. Neither of them had any personal items, money or extra clothes when they disappeared.
Benton’s family will not allow their property to be searched, although it is the last place Jennifer and Adrianna were seen, and authorities have not pushed to search the property. At one point in time a volunteer search was organized, however the family backed out at the last minute.
Benton does not have a very good reputation according to some. In an unrelated incident, he was placed in the back of a police car were he proceeded to kick out the back window and then had to be hog tied. It has been said that he did not have a job, yet always seemed to have a wad of cash.
He was allegedly working for his family building a home for cash. Clearly Benton is not the prince he led Jennifer to believe he was in the beginning.
Jennifer and Adrianna may still be in the Cross Plains area, or they may have travelled to Florida. They are believed to be in danger, as it is uncharacteristic for Jennifer to be out of touch with her family. Their disappearances are being investigated as a criminal investigation and officials do suspect foul play.
Project Jason has even gone so far as to label Jennifer and Adrianna assumed deceased.
Regardless, until a firm resolution has come to this case, we will continue to look for Jennifer and Adrianna, and we will continue to spread their story to as many people as possible, and we will continue to have hope that they will return home safely soon.
