AME DEAL, 10, WAS PLACED IN A TRUNK AND LEFT TO SUFFOCATE TO DEATH – JOHN AND SAMANTHA ALLEN TO FACE THE DEATH PENALTY – UPDATED 09.14.2013 – CCA0036
AME DEAL WAS PLACED IN A TRUNK AND LEFT TO SUFFOCATE TO DEATH
Ame Deal had a hard life from the get go. Her family lived in squalor and abused Ame on a daily basis. At the time of Ame’s death, she was living in a filthy, run down home, piled with garbage, with 4 adults and over 12 other children. The family set up tents in the backyard to accommodate all the people residing there.
As the actual facts in the case began to come to light, a horrific picture was painted surrounding Ame’s life, and tragically, her death. The little girl seems to be the only one in the home that was abused, and she sure did take the brunt of it for the others. It does seem that there was neglect of the other children, as the children, as young as toddlers, were often seen playing outside until two in the morning. The children would roam the streets, quite often with little or no clothing on.
On the day Ame Deal died, she had taken a popsicle from the freezer, and her family saw fit to punish her for such. Her punishment consisted of doing back bends for two hours, after which she was forced to run barefoot around the back yard in 103’F (39’C) heat. Finally, John Allen, placed Ame in a padlocked foot locker, measuring 31 X 14 X 12 inches, in front of the other adults, and left her there over night. The next morning Ame’s lifeless body was found. The little girl had suffocated in the foot locker, and I don’t even want to think of the terror she must have felt in her final hours.
When the authorities were called, they were told Ame had been playing hide-and-seek late into the night and had apparently accidentally locked herself inside the foot locker. How the hell do they think she padlocked it shut when she was already stuffed in there???? Luckily, law enforcement was intelligent enough to ask the same question. When they found Ame in the foot locker, authorities say her clothes were soiled and she had marks on her right knee caused by ‘forceful contact’ with the box’s lid.
As investigators continued their investigation into Ame’s death and abuse, they learnt that the same foot locker was previously used numerous times for punishing the beautiful little girl for things such as wetting the bed. After locking Ame in the locker, the adults would spin it around or roll the foot locker across the floor. On one occasion, a neighbor heard screams coming from the foot locker while Cynthia Stoltzmann sat on top of it, using a laptop computer. Travis Naylor was living in one of the tents in the backyard, claimed he had returned to the home about 6 months before Ame’s murder, and had heard screams coming from the trunk. So what, he just shrugged his shoulders and walked by????? Other punishments Ame was forced to endure included being beaten with a board which the adults called the “Butt Buster”, being forced to eat dog feces and hot sauce and sleeping in the shower with no blankets or pillows.
There were witnesses to all of these punishments and the neighbors would even hear screams coming from the home. When the question was raised as to why the abuse was never reported, the lame excuse of not wanting to break the family up was used. REALLY? They should be charged as well as far as I am concerned – can’t they see breaking the family up may be exactly what would have saved Ame’s life, and given the dozen children living in those horrific conditions a better life than they would otherwise get? Don’t get me wrong here, I do not see poverty as a reason to remove children from a home. It does not take a rich family to raise loving, intelligent, successful children. A good parent is not defined by their income, but by the love and nurturing they show their children. What I do think is unacceptable is a dozen children living amongst filth and garbage and sleeping in tents in the backyard. All of the children residing in the home were placed into state care when the conditions of the home and circumstances surrounding Ame’s death came to light.
The four monsters which were arrested in relation to Ame’s death are John Allen, 23, Samantha Allen, 23, Cynthia Stoltzmann, 44, and Judith Deal, 72. Samantha Allen and her husband, John Allen, are Ame’s cousins. Cynthia Stoltzmann is Samantha Allen’s mother, and David Deal’s sister, making her Ame’s aunt. Cynthia Stoltzmann was also Ame’s legal guardian. Judith Deal is Cynthia Stoltzmann’s and David Deal’s mother, making her Ame’s grandmother. Samantha and John Allen were arrested for murder, with their bonds set at $1,000,000.00. Judith Deal and Cynthia Stoltzmann were arrested for child abuse and kidnapping, with their bonds set at $500,000.00. Unbelievably, the day after the arrests, David Deal began asking family and friends for money to bail his mother, Judith Deal and his sister, Cynthia Stoltzmann, out of jail.
David Deal, 51, who is Ame’s father, also lives in the home with his two other children, but was not charged with anything relating to Ame’s murder. Ame’s mother, Shirley Deal was married to David Deal at the time she conceived Ame. According to Shirley, she was seeing another man during the time she conceived, therefore it is not known for sure if David Deal is the father of Ame. However, David Deal is listed as Ame’s father on her birth certificate. Authorities believe this is the reason Ame was singled out from the other 12 children, as they did not believe she was a blood relative. Shirley and David had 2 other children together, before Ame was born. Shirley was David were living together a while until Shirley and her children went to stay with her mother in Donora, Pennsylvania. Eventually Shirley and the children joined David again, where they lived in Midland, Texas together, with David’s mother, Judith Deal and his sister, Cynthia Stoltzmann. Shirley claims while David’s family made her a slave to them, called her names and hit her, they did not abuse the children. Shirley claims also that the family threw her out and she left without her children, relocating to Iola, Kansas. What a horrific mess this little girl was born into, it seems like she never had a chance.
This family has a long history of neglect and abusing children. It would appear that Ame was abused the majority of her young life. When the family lived in Wisconsin, Child Protective Services were called because of the “disgusting conditions” of their residence. Before the family moved to Phoenix, they were living in Ogden, Utah, where school officials claimed that they had reported many incidences of abuse and neglect to authorities, before they left Utah. School officials claimed that Amy and her siblings came to school filthy. They said Ame often had head lice and once had cat urine on her shoes. The school officials noted that Amy seemed to be the scapegoat of the family. Since living in Phoenix, Ame and the other children were supposedly being homeschooled, which I sincerely doubt was happening. Police claimed that the other children would instigate situations to get Ame in trouble. So not only were these monsters abusing Ame, they were trying to raise little monsters to do their bidding. The children were also persuaded to lie about why and how Ame ended up in the trunk to the police.
I can’t imagine the psychological damage which has been done to those children. One day they will realize what happened, and they will realize the roll the played – were FORCED and MANIPULATED to play – by the adults in their life.
On August 10, 2011, in Maricopa County, Arizona, Judith Deal, Cynthia Stoltzmann and the Allen’s were formally indicted. Judith Deal and Cynthia Stoltzmann were charged with numerous counts of child abuse and kidnapping. John and Samantha Allen were charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit child abuse and many counts of child abuse.
As time passed after Ame’s death, more and more information came out that showed the true extent of the abuse Ame suffered. Another member of Ame Deal’s family has been arrested for horrifically abusing and torturing the little girl before her death. Ammandea Stoltzmann, 24, Cynthia Stoltzmann’s daughter and Ame’s cousin, was arrested after others came forward stating they had witnessed her abusing Ame. According to reports, she was seen hitting Ame, keeping her outside over night with a dog collar and chain, and keep the girl in a dog crate while they lived in Texas. Police were told that this low-life piece of trash, scrubbed Ame’s face with a wire brush because she lied, kicked Ame in the face and forced her to drink extremely hot hot sauce. Initially A. Stoltzmann denied all of the allegations against her, but later admitted that the allegations were true, along with much more. She admitted to witnessing her mother, Cynthia Stoltzmann, toss Ame – who was petrified of water – into a cold swimming pool. According to court documents, Ame’s arms were flailing while her head was under. When the little girl was let up for air, she was coughing, choking and crying. A. Stoltzmann went on to elaborate on the abuse she inflicted on Ame over the years. She admitted to making Ame crush aluminum cans while barefoot, forcing her to sleep in a pan meant for a shower floor, and ruining Ame’s food by dousing it in hot sauce “enough to make your eyes burn and water”. Furthermore, Ame was not allowed to play with other children, and was forced to stay home whenever the family went out somewhere. A. Stoltzmann was arrested on three counts of felony child abuse, but has since been released.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has announced it will seek the death penalty for John and Samantha Allen for Ame’s murder. The County Attorney’s Office has stated that Ame’s young age, and the “especially cruel, heinous or depraved” manner of the murder were factors that led to the decision to seek the death penalty for the Allen’s. Personally, I think death is too good for them, I say lock the monsters up in a foot locker, let them suffer the fate they forced Ame to suffer. Let EVERYONE who abused and tortured Ame, suffer the same fate as the little girl. Hell, I will pay for all five foot lockers for these disgusting excuses of humans.
It didn’t take long before Ame’s father, David Deal, was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse relating to his daughter’s murder. The only reason given for as to why Ame was singled out and tortured was simply, “she was a little slow”. WTF?? I am inclined to say that she was not slow, but was rather terrified and never allowed to relax. This case has gotten to the point where I wake up every morning just hoping against all hope that all of Ame’s abusers are in jail, that there are not any more to be discovered and charged. This little girl knew nothing but pain caused at the hands of every single person who was supposed to love and protect her. Her ENTIRE family tortured her, and I am outraged and heartbroken that this beautiful girl never knew love in the time she shared this world with us. I want to hold her, and tell her it’s OK. Tell her that she is precious and perfect, and that no one has the right to lay a finger on her. I want to tell her that she is safe and tuck her into a warm bed covered in pillows. I want to give her a childhood, a childhood that she was completely robbed of. Sadly, I can never give Ame these things, and I can never erase what happened to her. What I can do is fight to obtain justice for her. I can be the advocate that Ame needed years ago, and not allow these scum to get away with what they have done. I will not rest until each of these monsters has experienced the pain in which they inflicted on Ame.
David Deal has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to his charges. Judith Deal and Cynthia Stoltzmann pled guilty to their charges as well. Jusith Deal was sentenced to 10 years in prison with lifetime probation. Cynthia Stoltzmann was sentenced to 24 years in prison with lifetime probation. Much to my disappointment, the charges against Ammandea Stoltzmann were dropped after prosecutors determined there was not enough evidence to support them.
The trial in which John and Samantha Allen could be sentenced with the death penalty, is scheduled to begin in December of 2013.
