JACOB CALHOUN – RESTRICTED
Jacob’s case has been listed as restricted as per the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Thank you to all of those who followed his case.
**** What a restricted case means. ****
A restricted case can mean any one of several things. It can mean the children have been recovered, or the case has been solved, however it is not press ready at the time. Classifying it as restricted gives the authorities and professionals time to evaluate the children, without any influence, to determine exactly how they were living and their current needs – do they need any medical treatment, counseling, drug rehab, etc. Also, during the evaluation time the professionals and authorities should be able to determine if any additional charges should be filed against the abductor(s) or anyone else. A final determination of custody will be made (vast majority enforces orders made after the abduction), and the children will then be returned to their rightful home. A restricted case can also mean that the case is being updated. When this is the case, a new poster will be issued for the children and the case will be reclassified. This generally happens within a day or two. LTWH’s policy is to wait 7 days before reclassifying a case, therefore we avoid changing the status of a case if an update is all that is happening. Lastly, a restricted case may mean that the publicity of the case has been ceased. When this happens, the public is given very little information.
**** Please note that when a case is classified as restricted, we move the case to our recovered archives.****

Jacob was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Diana Acosta. The two are known to be in Medellin, Colombia. Jacob’s father, Roy King, has been pursuing every avenue possible to reach an agreement with Columbian courts for visitation with his son. Roy is in the military, and has chosen to spend his life protecting others. I think it is only appropriate that we spend some time supporting him through this difficult time.
A website and FaceBook page where created in Jacob’s name, and were well received by the public. However, these sites have been ‘shut down’. In the last comment Roy King left on the FaceBook page, he discussed the legal difficulties he is facing in the mediation of the situation. Apparently Acosta’s attorney has stated that his client is uncooperative due to the social media campaign launched by Roy and his supporters.
While no one understands why this is made into such a big issue, Roy understandably decided to shut down his public campaign to bring his son home, stating that if nothing came about after shutting the site down to get him closer to have any form of contact with his son, that we will see him back online, looking for support.
I ask you all to take a moment, look at Jacob’s pictures and send your thoughts Roy’s way. This beautiful little boy needs to be brought home, and needs to be back in the arms of his father, the man who has given up everything to locate his son.
Updates may be few and far between at this point, but we will continue to keep an eye out for any new information released, and with a little hope, maybe the next update will be to post photos of Roy being reunited with Jacob.
