WESLEY MORGAN – ENDANGERED MISSING May 15, 2001 – USMCC000186LTWH – UPDATED 02.19.2015
Date of Birth: March 14, 1999
Height: 3’0” Weight: 35 lbs
Hair: Sandy Eyes: Blue
Missing: May 15, 2001 From: Clinton, LA
Wesley was living with his mother, Ruby Renee Harvard, and her former boyfriend, Burnell Hilton Jr. at the time of his disappearance. The family lived in a rented home along US Highway 63 near the Bluff Creek community in Clinton, LA. Wesley’s father, Dewey Morgan, resided elsewhere in Clinton. Wesley was last seen playing with puppies on his front porch at about 9:45AM on May 15, 2001. He has never been seen or heard from again.
Ruby claimed that Wesley disappeared while she left him unattended to prepare lunch. Extensive searches of the area turned up no traces of little Wesley. Authorities utilized a Louisiana National Guard’s helicopter thermal imaging device to assist in the efforts, but no evidence was located. The state’s governor declared a state of emergency in Clinton to finance the use of the helicopter.
Investigators questioned Ruby several times about Wesley’s case after his disappearance. She has denied any involvement in her son’s disappearance and claims that police are biased against her as a result of her lifestyle. Authorities stated that Hilton and Ruby failed polygraph exams later in 2001. Investigators also say that Ruby rarely inquired about the status of Wesley’s case.
Ruby allegedly has an unrelated confrontation with Hilton’s former girlfriend in early 2001. The latter informed authorities that Hilton was reportedly responsible for the October 1998 shooting of a bystander in Zachary, Louisiana on Flanacher Road. Hilton lived in Zachary at the time of the incident. He was charged with attempted murder in the spring of 2001.
Ruby reportedly began dating a man from East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana in June of 2001. Her relationship with Hilton ended shortly after Wesley’s disappearance. Investigators questioned Ruby’s new boyfriend and searched his mobile home afterwards. Witnesses claimed to have observed a boy matching Wesley’s description in the area, but there was no evidence ever located to support the sighting. The man reporting the sighting was unable to provide additional information about Wesley’s case and is not considered a suspect.
In the summer of 2001, a psychic told authorities that she envisioned Wesley’s grave as a small sized plot near his family’s Clinton home. Desperate for leads, authorities searched the area, but were unable to located any indication of a burial site. Inestigators also exhumed a grave in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, after receiving information that Wesley’s remains may have been disposed at the location. What they discovered was the remains of a pet dog.
Authorities believe that Wesley is alive somewhere, and Ruby has given him away or sold him. In 2008, she was charged with attempting to sell another of her children after she allegedly offered to sell her unborn child to a married couple for $2,000.00.
Wesley’s whereabouts remain unknown.
