The history proceeding Kristopher’s disappearance is a very disturbing one.  By the time he was 8 years old, both of his grandparents had been murdered, and the person that planned the murders, his mother.

Tina’s father, Gary Loesch, was shot to death in 1995 as he delivered papers.  Tina’s mother, Barbara Loesch, was found deceased in her backyard hot tub with a TV thrown into it in 1998.  Barbara’s death was initially ruled an accident, and for 6 years it stayed that way, although investigators had their suspicions that it may have been no accident.  The small things at the scene raised red flags, but with no concrete evidence of foul play, there was little to be done, that is until 2004.

In 2004, Bradley Steckman, confessed to electrocuting and drowning Barbara at the request of Tina and Hanson.  The women wanted to cash in on the $500,000.00 life insurance policy Barbara had with Tina being the beneficiary.  The women told Steckman they would pay him $10,000.00 when they received the settlement, however later reneged.

As it turns out, this is not the first time that Steckman has killed for Hanson.  Hanson owned a home improvement business, which Steckman was an employee of.  In 1999, Hanson ordered Steckman to break into Dorothy Martin’s home and steal a diamond ring Hanson had seen when she was in the house earlier doing some work.  Dorothy, an elderly woman, surprised Steckman while he was in the home, and Steckman smothered Dorothy to death.

While Steckman was being interviewed by police regarding Dorothy’s murder, he began to talk about Barbara’s murder.  He told authorities it was his job to rig the TV to expel as much energy as possible, then to help Tina drown Barbara after she was stunned by the shock.  Steckman was given a sentence that was to run concurrent with his sentence for the murder of Dorothy Martin, and he in exchanged agreed to testify against Tina and Hanson.  Investigators also have suspicions that Steckman may have information regarding the murder of Gary Loesch.  Steckman had admitted that he had scoped out Gary’s paper route for Hanson, several times shortly before his murder, however he insists that he has nothing to do with the murder itself.

With this new information, one of the first thing investigators did, was to reopen the death of Gary Loesch.  The case remains unsolved, however police strongly believe that Tina was responsible for her father’s death as well as her mother’s.  Apparently Gary had written his daughter out of his will after she had told him that she was in a lesbian relationship with Hanson, shortly before he was murdered.

Gary and Barbara Loesch also have a son, Charles Loesch.  The last time Charles ever saw his sister was at his mother’s funeral.  As for Kristopher, he was only 2 or 3 years old when he last saw his uncle, an uncle he may very well now not realize he even has.  Charles had no idea that his sister was involved in their mother’s death and was shocked, calling her “one hell of an actress”.  He also stated that Tina “was always mixed up with the wrong crowd, always causing trouble.”

At the time that Kristopher disappeared, he was living with attorney Julie Twyford, and her husband, Steven Cassell, an acquaintance of his mother’s, in Spokane Valley, Washington.  He was sent there shortly after his mother’s disappearance.  He attended Shiloh Hills Elementary School under the name of Christopher Robinson.  There have been no requests to have his school records transferred to another school.  Twyford and Cassell told authorities that in 1999, they sent Kristopher to an old family friend’s house in Seattle to spend Christmas with his mother and Hanson.  He has not been seen or heard from since.  Apparently, Tina and Hanson homeschooled Kristopher for some time in 2000 and 2001.  After Kristopher’s disappearance, Cassell was indicted with charges of illegal money transactions, with no relation to Kristopher’s disappearance.

On October 10, 2008, 8 years after Kristopher disappeared, warrants were issued for Tina and Hanson’s arrest for the murder of Barbara Loesch.  In November, America’s Most Wanted featured the story asking for any information related to Tina and Hanson, and Kristopher’s disappearance.  Less than two hours after the episode aired, Tina and Hanson were found shot to death in their Dodge Durango on a rural street in Tucson, Arizona.  The two woman had entered into a suicide pack, Tina shooting Hanson, then shooting herself.  They left behind a 6 page suicide note, which did not admit to in involvement in Tina’s parents’ murders, and gave no indication of what happened to Kristopher or where he was.  There were no signs of Kristopher at the scene.

As authorities attempted to piece together Tina and Hanson’s life after their disappearance, so many questions remain unanswered.  Hanson started a new home improvement business, but was not registered and did not pay taxes, leaving no paper trail.  The women had not legally changed their names but were rather living under assumed names, Tina was Dawn, and Hanson was Katie.  Neighbors report that Kristopher had been living with the women in 2002, but then Tina began to tell people that she had sent him to live with his father in Spokane because he was “too much to handle”.  Truth is, no one is even aware of who Kristopher’s biological father is.

The lack of evidence surrounding Kristopher’s disappearance is frustrating to say the least.  The drama surrounding this young man is explosive, and never really stopped, which leaves investigators shaking their heads.  This young man could literally be anywhere, and there is no one good place to start looking.

Due to the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, Kristopher is considered to be in danger.

There is so much surrounding this case that it sometimes loses the urgency that a little boy is still missing.  Considering everything Kristopher has gone through – finding him is of utmost importance.  This young man needs someone to advocate for him, for the first time in his life.  He needs a stable home that shows him love, respect and confidence.  He needs us to help him get everything he needs to overcome his traumatic childhood and remind him that he was never forgotten.  I can’t begin to imagine the effect Kristopher’s childhood has had on him, especially because today he would be 18 years old.  Just because Kristopher is now legally an adult, it absolutely does NOT mean that we should stop looking for him.  Kristopher deserves a chance, a chance that he was not given at 10 years old.  We need to bring Kristopher home.  We need to know that Kristopher is safe.
