KEEPING YOU IN THE LOOP – UPDATE NOVEMBER 25, 2013!!

NOVEMEBER 25,2013

FINALLY FREEDOM!

FINALLY FREEDOM!

Hey Guys – I FINALLY had my cast removed for good this morning!!!  It’s left an outline of my arm of where it was as if it’s saying ‘Remember me, fall out of bed again and …I’ll be all over you!” .

Thank you all for all your well wishes – and for having so much patience with me moving slowly.  My wrist and hand are still a little weak, but I just need to use them again and strengthen them, luckily my baby sister is a physiotherapist, SO … she will be all over me with strengthening my wrist (she is a SLAVE driver)!
So thank you all again! Time for me to get moving and start learning to type with two hands again 🙂

CAST #4

The end is in sight!  I’m on my fourth cast.  Everything is healing well, hopefully I will only need it casted one more time!  I’ll tell you something – I have never appreciated all the wonderful things my left arm does for me – I won’t take it for granted again! LOL 😉

CAST #3

CAST #3

So as of now I am on my third casting, and they figure I’ll need at least two more.  I’m still moving a little slower than normal, but greatly appreciate all of the patience you all have shown!  I’m half way done with this mess – so that’s a great thing!  Next thing I need to do is put safety rails on my bed to make sure something like this never happens again!! 😉

UPDATE! OCTOBER 14, 2013

CAST #2

CAST #2

Alright, the bones have been set, pins have been placed and I am finally feeling well enough to get back to work!  Thank you to all of you for your well wishes, I truly appreciate it!  Now, I am still in a cast and will be for at least 6 more weeks, BUT, each day I manage to find ways to be a little less of an invalid, so while I am still a little slow, I think I can manage to catch up and start keeping up again! 🙂 Thank you to all of you for your patience, I am so grateful for the understand each of you has shown. Now let’s get back to helping these babies!

CAST #1

CAST #1

Hey Folks!!

I just wanted to let you know that things may be slow around here for a few weeks.
Somehow, I managed to fall out of bed (It’s OK, you can laugh ), and I broke my wrist as well as a bone in my hand …. in my defense, it was a 3 foot drop … OK, so that doesn’t make me any less of a moron!
My first reaction was being exceptionally pissed at myself.  So I’m laying on the floor with the dog staring at me over the edge of the bed with this ‘What in the hell are you doing?’ look, I try to get up, and dear good god the pain!  Now I’m angry and realizing just how much pain I’m in, so I start scrambling to my feet like a wounded animal, realized too late the comforter was tangled around my feet, and did a face plant onto the edge of the bed.  I fall back on my ass, once again staring at the ceiling and all I could do was laugh at that point.  I laid on the floor for half an hour to ensure I was free of all obstacles, when Zeus jumps off the bed and directly onto my wrist.  I actually screamed, scared Zeus so bad he hid under the bed.  I knew I needed to go to the hospital, so I spent another 20 minutes trying to coax the dog out from under the bed so I could put him in his kennel and head out.  Oh, and did I mention this all happened at 2 in the morning???????
The doctors and nurses were a little unsure at first if they should believe my ‘fell off the bed story’, asking me if there was domestic violence in my home and what not (their concern is touching, and speaks greatly to the incredible care they ensure their patients receive), however, once they realized I am a dumbass and my home is completely violence free, they got a good chuckle over it 🙂  They have casted the arm, but I am going to need surgery right away to set the breaks properly.  I still can’t believe I fell out of bed, I thought I got past that at age 2.  Does anyone know if they make the child safety rails for a king size bed???!! 😉
Anyway – Typing is a hunt and peck status now, with lots of breaks to feel sorry for myself, so what once took 5 minutes, is now taking a couple of hours. The good news though, they don’t think they will need to cut my arm off entirely and they assured me that broken wrists have a great survival rate … so all in all, I think I just might live.
I’ll try to manage a speed a little quicker than a turtle (the big slow moving ones, not those tiny little buggers that run around the pond and swim like Michael Phelps), so if I don’t get back to you right away, it’s just because of my nearly fatal injury!
Thank you all for your patience and support!
I’ll keep you posted 🙂
